Ann Powers, RMHCI

Ann got her undergraduate degree in Psychology desiring to continue becoming a counselor. However, her life was transformed by Christ her junior year and she decided to work with a campus ministry after graduation. After working in 3 different states and 2 different countries over many years she moved to Orlando 7 years ago. Ann has been involved in Leadership development, life coaching and spiritual direction and in May of 2023 she fulfilled her dream of becoming a counselor. She graduated with a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. Ann longs to come alongside others as they journey towards greater healing and wholeness. Ann has benefited from others journeying with her through her own healing of past pain, cross cultural living, miscarriages, children with learning disabilities, a husband with degenerative vision loss, and the death of a teenage child. She has a heart for those in families that have lived or currently live with a family member with special needs. She has learned personally that the family dynamics and each individual member is dramatically affected when one member lives with a special need.

Ann’s approach to counseling is grounded in a belief that we were born looking for someone who is looking for us and how this desire was met or unmet will be the greatest source of our pain and/or joy. She believes that our emotions will give us much insight and guidance to understand our lives if we learn to listen to them with curiosity and compassion. She desires to utilize various modalities in her counseling including: IFS (Internal Family Systems), EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), DBT ( Dialectical Behavior Therapy), Mindfulness, as well as spiritual practices for those desiring it. She is also EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy) trained.

In her free time Ann loves to cook, entertain, hike, have leisurely talks with her husband, and sit with friends especially if good coffee and a great atmosphere is involved!
