Our Vision

Mission Statement

The Foundation Counseling Center exists to reflect the heart of Christ by offering hope and healing to families and individuals regardless of income.

The Need

As we continually hear of the growing need for mental health care in America, the Foundation Counseling Center desires to close the gap between those who can access quality mental health care and those who cannot.  The counselors at our center desire to provide holistic mental health care to all in need.  Nearly one in four families in Central Florida lack health insurance altogether, and many who have insurance are unable to access quality mental healthcare.  It is our hope that therapy no longer exists as a luxury but rather, a service accessible to all who desire to receive it.

The Counseling Center

We see counseling as an invitation for people to find the courage to be honest with themselves and find rest in who they are.  While we cannot solve problems, we desire to come alongside people in order that they may have space to be known and to flourish.  All of our counselors believe in a relational approach to therapy that is also grounded in high clinical standards.

History

The Foundation Counseling Center began as a mutual dream amongst mental health professionals, social workers, pastors, and community leaders.  It is grounded in the shared beliefs that as recipients of God’s grace and love Jesus calls us to serve our neighbor, that all who are weary and burdened may find rest.

In 2014, God began to provide the vision for a counseling center that would serve all individuals, regardless of their income.  As community leaders worked together, they began to see a growing need for mental health care and a disparity between those who could and could not access services.  Two years later, the dream began to grow in conjunction with the support of the Connection Church.  As the vision grew, other community leaders became invested in seeing it come to fruition yet it was not yet possible to open a center.

In 2018, the dream continued to spread as other mental health professionals who had similar hopes joined the vision and began to dialogue about opening a center together.  In 2020 God provided the building for the center and the Foundation Counseling Center opened its doors as a nonprofit ministry of the Connection Church on January 13, 2020.

In its first six months serving the community, the Foundation Counseling Center was able to serve 157 clients totaling over 1,021 hours of individual sessions.  60% of our total sessions were provided at discounted rates for families in need who otherwise could not afford to receive counseling.
